Fargepartitur for fasade, 2024-25

133 paintings on alu diabond material, part of the facade around the building of the new Cicci Klein School in Trondheim

Anders Sletvold Moe’s work articulates the school building’s four façades through a rhythmic, modular composition in a palette of red, yellow, and orange. Comprising 133 painted aluminum façade panels, the project engages the building’s architectural logic through the interaction of color, form, and motif. At each corner of the structure, large compositional fields employ chromatic perspective to generate a perceptual three-dimensionality, framing the work as a unified spatial composition.

The project draws conceptual inspiration from the color theories of Josef Albers (1888–1976), particularly his investigations into relational color perception. Albers, a central figure of the Bauhaus, emphasized color as a dynamic and context-dependent phenomenon—an approach that informs Sletvold Moe’s systematic and perceptual use of color in Color Score for Façade. Through this framework, the work activates the façade as a site of visual experience rather than mere surface.

Conceived as an integrated part of the architecture, the artwork was developed in close collaboration with HUS Architects, with the intention of reinforcing the building’s identity as a significant educational institution.
